Make Fix Build

TL;DR I’m working on this: https://makefixbuild.com

There are days I’m a humming bird flitting among flowers as I manage my tasks.

There are days I am a bear, waking early from hibernation, slow plodding of heavy paws, cursing noises like a human in a morning world without coffee.

There are days I’m a lion and my prey is my inbox, days I’m a beaver and I’m building something new.

Finding a common thread among my interests and responsibilities is a challenge.

I feel most alive when I’m creating. I love collaborating with friends on shared projects.

I feel excited using a tractor to dig in the dirt and regrade a slope. It reminds me that this world is not static and that I have influence.

I feel meaning when writing a line of prose or a line of code that works just right. It reminds me that sometimes things work out, even when my pessimism is masquerading as realism.

At my best I make some small part of the world just a little bit better.

Some days making the world just a little bit better is resting my weary body. My body is part of the world.

Some days I need to sort and file paperwork for taxes (a task I planned for today and haven’t yet started).

Some days parenting and household needs fill all the hours.

I started Make Fix Build to have a space to share stories and projects. It’s a digital space where different parts of life can mesh and make sense together.

From publishing to construction, the common thread I’ve found in my life is a desire to make, fix, and build things to make our shared reality slightly better.

I hope my work and my words are something you find helpful whether or not you’re in a time of rest.
